Join us for an engaging guest artist lecture, part of the Anderson Ranch’s summer of free artist lectures in Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado.

Held on Sunday and Tuesday evenings from June through September, these events highlight renowned contemporary artists and faculty through dynamic slideshow presentations. Artists share insights into their creative process, studio practice, influences, and current work, offering a behind-the-scenes look at contemporary art today. Connect with leading artists and discover new ideas in a welcoming, creative setting.

Speaker

Doug Casebeer

Doug Casebeer teaches, lectures, and builds kilns worldwide, and recent projects have taken him to Brazil, Jamaica, and Chile. Casebeer has over 45 years of experience in the ceramics field, and has taught well over 300 workshops around the world. He has been recognized for his leadership in the field by NCECA, Anderson Ranch Arts Center, and the Huntington Museum of Art. His work is represented by the Harvey Preston Gallery, Red Lodge Clay Center, and the Schaller Gallery.

Yana Payusova

Yana Payusova ,born in Leningrad, USSR, holds an MFA in Interdisciplinary Media Arts Practices from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Her studio practice — grounded in painting, sculpture, and installation –examines the tension between interior life and collective identity, often through the lenses of power, gender, and cultural displacement. She has exhibited widely in the U.S. and internationally, with recent shows at the Museu de Ceràmica de L’Alcora (Spain), Ceramic Avenue Art Gallery (Jingdezhen, China), Santa Joana Museum (Aveiro, Portugal), Conduit Gallery (Dallas, USA), New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum (Taiwan), and the 63rd Premio Faenza (Italy). Her work is held in the permanent collections of the DeCordova Museum (Lincoln, MA), Boston Public Library (Boston, MA), Museu de Ceràmica de L’Alcora (L’Alcora, Spain), and the Crocker Art Museum (Sacramento, CA). Payusova has been an Artist-in Residence at Guldagergaard International Ceramic Research Center (Colorado). In 2023, she was commissioned to create an installation for the Real Unreal, Meow Wolf’s fourth permanent exhibition in Grapevine, Texas. She is currently Assistant Profesoor of Practice and FYE Program Chair at the University of Arizona School of Art.

The Café is available to Ranch students, faculty, and staff only from October through May. 

The Café is a social hub where students and visitors gather to discuss ideas, plan for new creative experiences, and reflect on shared teachings. Join us for a beautiful buffet lunch offering fresh salads and rotating hot items.
