Monoprint and Transfers: Distorting the Image
Golnar Adili
Tuition $1,160
Code R0101-24
In this experimental, mixed-media printmaking workshop, students start by working in simple and immediate print processes such as solvent transfer and monoprint to reproduce an image, then distort and make anew through scale shift, repetition, folding, cutting, weaving, collage, stacking, and wrapping. Students allow the image to inspire the distortion-making process, and pull from different disciplines such as book arts, topographical maps, maquettes, and architecture. Even though monoprint tracing and transfers are introduced and explored, any 2D image-making process can be the starting point for transformation of the flat and the ordinary into extraordinary dimensional works.
