More Is More: China Paint Techniques

Melanie Sherman

Tuition $1,095
Code C0813-22

This workshop is designed to marry the ceramic form with imagery, exploring surface decorations with materials such as china paints, metallic lusters, flocking, gold leaf and other finishes. This course encourages students of all disciplines to use their own imagery and designs, using traditional image-transfer techniques. Participants have the unique opportunity to personalize their own ceramic works or store-bought ceramics. A plethora of materials and techniques enable students to richly express cultural heritage and storytelling as one indulges in layer upon layer of lavish ornamentations and embellishments. This course encourages a playful approach to engage in new connections between two- and three-dimensional elements, engaging with different painting techniques, textures and materials to craft unique works of art.
