Artists are trampling the line between contemporary furniture craft and sculpture more frequently and fearlessly than ever. In this introductory workshop, students learn woodworking and handcraft techniques to create unique sculptural furniture such as side tables, step stools or light objects. With a focus on hardwood construction, surface treatment and finishing techniques, the course explores form, process and sculptural solutions to create a piece of functional art.
