Abstraction: Telegraph Signals of an Unknown Language
This workshop for intermediate painters focuses on the conditions contained within abstraction that are an amalgamation of disparate parts of our psychology and philosophy. The instructor provides specific prompts as fodder for the creation of a nonobjective image-making that may altogether arrive from a representational substrate and ultimately morph and dissolve into a new, abstract language. We delve into art history to augment our perception of the lineage of abstraction and the possibilities within our contemporary milieu vis-à-vis the personal and political.
