Digital Art and Design

Jul 31 - Aug 4, 2023

9AM - 3PM

Concept

Take drawing and design to new heights in this drawing-based techshop. Learn the latest tools and techniques in illustration, graphic design, and digital collage. Students use illustration software, digital cameras, amazing computers, drawing pads and styluses, and printers in projects that come to life through postcards, prints, and zines. Young artists collage digital drawings onto photographs, learn to cut and blend found imagery, create computerized paint brushes, and more! At the end of the week, participants print digital art in a catalog for everyone to take home and share.

Art Break: Into the Woods

Olivia Martinez

Tuition $75
Code ZSK0502-23

Owls, deer and bears, oh my! This workshop celebrates the forest by crafting air-dried clay mushrooms, giant watercolor deer, sculptural owls and picturesque, collaged evergreen trees. There are stories, songs, arts and crafts to reimagine the animals in the wilderness inside the studio. Children improve their art-making skills as they paint, draw, cut, paste and sculpt wild and whimsical creations in this one-day workshop. Art Breaks are an exciting program at Anderson Ranch Arts Center for kids ages 7-10. They are scheduled to complement breaks in the elementary school calendar throughout the year. Each Art Break has its own theme as it relates to the changing of the seasons and the world around us. Various artistic mediums will be incorporated including ceramics, painting, sculpture and printmaking. Kids will have a safe and inspiring environment to participate in hands-on creative problem-solving activities. They will be encouraged to recognize the arts as a lifelong learning experience as well as an integral part of the past and the future. Art Breaks will also feature special tours of the Anderson Ranch artistic studios for a peek inside the work of Visiting Artists and Studio Coordinators. Drop off and pick up will take place at the Evelyn and Martin Siegel Children’s Building, just inside the main Anderson Ranch entrance. Children should come prepared with a snack, lunch and water bottle, as well as appropriate apparel for a full day of art-making. Before the start of each Art Break, families and students will be updated with the appropriate COVID protocols as defined by Pitkin County and the CDC.
