Portraits in Printmaking

Aug 8 - 12, 2022

9AM-3PM

Concept

Discover the many phases of printmaking in this portraiture workshop where students learn different printmaking techniques and their processes. Students test the limits of mono-printing, challenge negative and positive space in soft linoleum relief carvings and experiment with different printing methods. Participants also hone in on our drawing skills throughout this workshop. Students end the week with a handmade artist book with a collection of their prints, using their new bookmaking and printmaking skills.

Faculty

Hannah Sutton Stoll

Hannah Stoll is an artist based at SAW Studio for Arts and Works in Carbondale, CO. She works primarily in oil painting, making forays into printmaking and multimedia. Portraiture, human spaces, and natural beauty are her most frequent subjects. In 2020, Stoll received a BA in Organismal Biology and Ecology from Colorado College and moved to the Roaring Fork Valley shortly thereafter. She continues to use concepts and inspiration from her scientific study in her artwork. Patterns found in nature, whether visual or ecological, fascinate her in how they complement and inform the human condition. Stoll’s work returns again and again to these themes and to the unprecedented contemporary ways we feel about our world and ourselves. She has exhibited work in Denver and at several local galleries and art centers.

Health & Safety

Anderson Ranch is closely following local and national health and safety guidance. Beginning February 2023, Anderson Ranch will no longer require proof of Covid-19 vaccination for studio and artistic program participants. For your own safety as well as the safety of our community, we highly encourage all program participants to be up to date with their vaccinations for COVID-19 as well as the flu vaccine. We also encourage you to carry health and travelers insurance.
Studio and artistic program participants are required to show proof that they have received the complete Covid-19 vaccine (i.e., two weeks have passed after receiving the second dose of either the Moderna or Pfizer MRNA vaccines or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine). Additionally, if six months have passed since completing the Moderna or Pfizer series or two months have passed since receiving the J & J vaccine, then a booster is also required. Ideally the booster would have been administered at least two weeks prior to coming to Anderson Ranch. Click here for additional health and safety information.
