Concept

Let’s build an imaginary world together! With the help of friends, we create houses, skyscrapers, planes, trains and so much more! In this workshop, we learn about different types of architecture and design styles and incorporate those into our own creations. We use mixed-media materials to bring our worlds together, like cardboard, paint, clay, foam, and glue to make a city filled with whatever they can imagine! Whether your world is in the deep of the ocean, on the moon in space, or in the green aspen trees, get ready to plan, design, and build!

Faculty

Lilian Lara

Lilian Lara is a mixed-media artist focusing on papier-mâché sculptures and costume design. Her love of outrageous pageantry and interest in the fantastical is evident in her work as she draws on her Mexican roots to create unique pieces. She believes art is an essential component to the human condition and should occupy a major space in our daily lives. To create is to communicate without words and boundaries—to be understood without explanation.

Using Ozobots, topographic maps, recycled treasures, and vibrant paints, we’ll invent whimsical machines and kinetic creations. Art Through Time!

Hannah Baker

Tuition $600
Code K0101-26

Pack your bags—we’re going on an art adventure through history! Each day, young artists travel to a different time and place to discover how people have made art for thousands of years. We start by painting cave-style murals like early humans, then try our hands at clay tablets inspired by ancient Mesopotamia. We design pottery like the Greeks and Romans, decorate fancy letters like medieval artists, and make bright “stained-glass” collages that glow with color. Moving forward in time, we splash paint like the Impressionists, create bold pop art, and dream up what art might look like in the future! By the end of the week, every child has created a “time capsule” of their own amazing creations—celebrating creativity from the past, present, and beyond!
