Wildlife Wonder

Jun 3 - 7, 2024

9AM - 3PM

Concept

Together, with our combined love for animals and art, we craft extraordinary mixed-media wildlife creations. We learn how to draw, paint, and build our favorite animals in both realistic and creative forms using a wide array of artistic mediums, like bookmaking and weaving. We also learn about some amazing animals and the qualities that make them unique as we get ready for this animal adventure! Projects range from nature mandalas to ceramic animal windchimes.

Faculty

Katie Smith

Katie Smith teaches art at Basalt Elementary School, where she served through ArtistYear, an AmeriCorps program that ensures all students have the opportunity to reap the social-emotional and academic benefits associated with arts learning. Prior to that, as a gallery assistant in Spokane, WA, Katie created an arts curriculum to encourage engagement with each exhibition. In addition to being a local art teacher, Katie is a Colorado native whose multimedia work explores mental health, connection with nature, and women’s rights.

Emily Katebini

Tuition $598
Code K0606-25

Step into a world where legends come alive and creativity knows no limits! In this exciting workshop, young artists explore mythical tales from around the globe and bring them to life through hands-on art-making. For the first two days, kids dive into the basics of clay sculpting, molding expressive figures and creatures inspired by stories of legendary heroes, gods, and magical beings. As the week unfolds, we expand our materials to include papier mâché, paint, and found objects, allowing students to craft larger-than-life elements from these myths. By the end of the week, each child creates a collection of vibrant artworks inspired by tales from Ancient Greece, Native American traditions, Oceania, and more.
